After a very long drive from Kelowna, BC, Canada, an "interesting" border crossing where my peanut butter sandwiches were of much more interest to national security than my cases full of electronics, batteries, cables, etc. and a 3 hour sleep break at a dodgy motel that failed to give me the wake up call I requested, I somehow made it to the Canuck meet up point. From there, we caravaned our way to The Gorge. It was my first time at this venue and although I had a good idea what to expect, I was blown away by the excellent organization, incredible views and general awesomeness of this incredible venue. I understand why The Gorge is considered one of the top venues in the world.
This was also the first time I had seen Brett Dennen and was impressed. His music was a fun style of music that makes you want to groove. I found he started a bit weak but quickly got into it and rocked it out. Once he got going, there was no stopping him as his hips swivelled enough to make Elvis jealous. The crowd was obviously very excited that the 3 day Dave Matthews Band Caravan festival had kicked off and the excitement was palpable.
This was an excellent way to start off an absolutely amazing and taper friendly festival. I met tons of amazing people and had an absolute blast. I'd love to do it again!
